Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is one of India's most revered Vishnu temples, situated inside the historic East Fort area of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Lord Padmanabha, a reclining form of Lord Vishnu resting on the divine serpent Adishesha. History

The origins of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple date back many centuries, with references appearing in ancient Hindu scriptures and regional traditions. Although the exact date of its foundation is uncertain, the temple has served as an important center of worship for generations of devotees. The present structure largely took shape during the 18th century under Maharaja Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma of Travancore. After renovating the temple, the king dedicated his entire kingdom to Lord Padmanabha through the historic Thrippadidanam ceremony and ruled as the deity's humble servant. This unique tradition continues through the Travancore royal family, making the temple an enduring symbol of devotion and cultural heritage.
